In January my husband and I flew from the Bay Area to Tokyo for two weeks. The first week was vacation. We took the Shinkansen down to Osaka and came back up to Tokyo. I specifically put DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba on the itinerary. I’m an enjoyer of Gundam and Gunpla, and there is a full-scale Unicorn Gundam standing in front of it. Of course I’m going.
The statue is the RX-0 from Gundam Unicorn, close to 20 meters tall, standing in the open in front of the mall. A few times a day it does the transformation, where the armor panels split and the horn opens into the V. I caught it in Unicorn mode, standing still under a clear January sky.
Then we went inside to the Gundam Base and I gawked at the amazing builds. Some loot may have been acquired. Consider yourself warned that a Gunpla build, or at least a half-built one, may show up on this blog at some point.
The second week I had to do real work for my employer. Someone has to automate the electron microscopes. I actually really enjoyed the Japanese work week (and the konbini inside the office).
